We review online dating sites in the finest of detail, looking at their reputations, ease of use, cost, member reviews on independent sites, profile quantity and quality, and what the company does to keep you safe from scammers and catfishers.
Here’s our detailed review of JollyRomance. We also recommend you to learn how we review International / online dating sites.

What Is JollyRomance.com?
JollyRomance.com is an online dating service that describes themselves as a “social platform for communication” for people all over the world. The site mainly caters to Western men looking for Eastern European women, and the dating site wants to connect the men with ladies they wouldn’t normally have met.
Looking at the homepage, you’d think they are a Facebook #2 instead of a dating site . They mostly mention how you can chat with people and learn about different cultures. Nothing romance related except for in the site’s name … Makes you wonder, right?
JollyRomance doesn’t have a mobile app, but their website is mobile-friendly.
The JollyRomance.com website is a cookie-cutter of other dating sites like RomanceTale.com and VictoriaHearts.com. It’s the same information that’s copied and pasted. I already see red flags.
How to Register at JollyRomance.com
Registration at JollyRomance is quick and easy. The form you need to fill out appears as the first thing when you visit the site.
Under the “It’s free to join!” heading, you need to:
- Choose your gender (male and female options only - I know, not very inclusive)
- Enter your name
- Add your birthday (month, day, and year)
- Fill out your email address
- Choose a password that’s at least 8 characters long
Tick the box that says you’ve read the website’s T&Cs (and on this note, do go and read through them), and then click Register in the bright orange box.
By clicking Register, you also confirm you are at least 18 and some other legal stuff.
What Services Are Offered at JollyRomance?
The services offered at Jolly Romance are:
- Profile creation
- Search and browse for a potential love interest
- Like profiles
- Send winks
- Chat via online chat - text and send and receive photos, videos, and stickers
- Write and send a letter (that can be up to 3,500 characters or 500-700 words) with (optional) photos
- Newsfeed (similar to Facebook’s)
- Send presents and flowers
- View profile videos
- Request your lady’s personal contact details (address and mobile number)
- Set up a date (which our research shows is near impossible, so good luck)
JollyRomance Design and Usability in Our Check
The overall web design is clean and modern. It’s easy to use the dating service, just like the other sites that the company owns.
Profile Quality: How Authentic Are the Profiles?
When members register on JollyRomance, there’s an optional email verification process. Once verified, a badge shows up on those verified profiles.
Not all profiles have this badge, and even if there’s a badge, there’s no guarantee that a profile has actually been verified.
The ladies on JollyRomance seem to be super skinny and pretty. Their profile pictures also seem modified (#photoshopped or #stolenfromelsewhere). Users mention that many of the profiles are fake and the same ladies are on other romance dating sites too.
The fact that it’s not really possible to get a date with ladies on JollyRomance confirms my suspicions that nearly all of the profiles are fake and they are just baiting men to keep on chatting and spending money.
Costs and Pricing of JollyRomance
JollyRomance doesn’t have a monthly subscription option. Instead, you need to buy credits and then spend them on what you want to do – send a message or a gift.
Like other dating sites, you can sign up, create your profile, search and browse, like a profile, send a wink, and view some videos and photos for free.
If you want to send messages, see who is interested in you, arrange a date, send gifts, see who has seen your profile, and access all members’ photos, you need to use the credits you bought.
Credits are available in various bundles:
- US$2.99 for 20 credits - only available at this price with your first bundle purchase
- US$9.99 for 20 credits
- US$19.99 for 50 credits
- US$44.99 for 125 credits
- US$69.99 for 250 credits
- US$149.99 for 750 credits
When you sign up, you get 20 credits for free so you can test out the site.
But how much do the services cost?
Here are the prices for some of the JollyRomance.com services:
- 2 credits for a 1-minute online chat
- 10 credits to open the second and all other letters from a lady; each first letter is free
- 10 credits to send the first letter to a lady
- 10 credits to send a photo in a chat
- 30 credits to send the second and every subsequent letter to a lady
- 625 credits to request a real date
So if you send 5 letters a day (which you can easily exceed, by the way) to one lady, that’s 10 credits for the first letter and 120 credits for the other 4 letters.
Online chatting for an hour with one lady costs 120 credits … and if you really like someone, the costs ramp up quickly.
If you chat to more ladies, you need hundreds of credits a day, so can you afford a minimum of US$149.99 per day? This site will bleed you dry quite quickly (unless you have deep pockets).
What Payment Options Do JollyRomance Accept?
JollyRomance only accepts credit card payments. They accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover cards.
JollyRomance Customer Support Options
The online dating platform doesn’t offer much versatility in terms of customer support options. They only list an email address (support @ jollyromance.com) that you can use to get in touch with the company.
External Reviews in Our Test: Trustpilot & Sitejabber
We always look at external member reviews when we do a deep-dive into an online dating site. This gives us a good idea of what members think of the site, and it’s pretty easy to see when dating sites have fake members writing glowing reviews about their services.
We look at the reviews and ratings on Trustpilot and Sitejabber for JollyRomance.
On Trustpilot, the company has claimed their profile and they have replied to almost all of the negative reviews. When JollyRomance replied, it was pretty much the same message: thanking the reviewer for reaching out and bringing the issue to their attention, a quick explanation, and then a “please reach out to customer services.”
There are 56 reviews of JollyRomance.com with a poor rating of 2.4 stars:
- 12% rated the service as excellent
- 9% as great
- 4% as poor
- 75% as bad
Bad reviews recount how:
- JollyRomance “stole” someone’s money - they want the person to remove their bad review while auto-charging them and not deleting their account
- The dating site is a scam with messages from women already filling their inboxes in only 4 seconds (?!) after they’ve registered and no profile completed
- Women just want to sex text
- The profiles look fake with only pretty, skinny girls that real women don’t feel like they want to join
The reviews on Sitejabber tell a different story. There are 47 reviews and JollyRomance has a 3.96 star rating:
- 14 reviewers gave the service 5 stars (which equals excellent)
- 26 members rated it with 4 stars (which equals good)
- 1 reviewer gave it 2 stars (which equals poor)
- 5 users rated it with 1 star (which equals bad)
In short, the reviews state that:
- JollyRomance is great for 50-year-old ladies because they can “chat in private”
- The dating service is full of scam artists
- JollyRomance.com keeps charging your credit card even without authorization (except the dating site probably covers themselves in their T&Cs, which is why you shouldn’t sign up to something without reading the fine print)
- The site is great because there are many interlocutors (so confession, I didn’t know this word, and I bet you lots of people don’t either because it isn’t a common word … makes me wonder who actually wrote these reviews and there are numerous JollyRomance reviews that uses it)
The reviews on Trustpilot just have a more authentic feel to them, like real people wrote them. And the fact that most reviewers rate JollyRomance as good on Sitejabber and bad on Trustpilot is a big red online dating flag.
- Trusted dating service since 2008
- Manually checked profiles
- No subscription, no obligations
Our JollyRomance Review Verdict: Not Recommended
My final verdict after considering everything in detail and testing the site is that JollyRomance is not to be recommended.
The reasons for my verdict?
- JollyRomance.com has plenty of fake profiles.
- It’s really difficult for male members to get a real date.
- The fake chats that just want men to spend money and more money are unethical. How can a lady just start messaging you as soon as you click Register and you don’t even have a profile yet with any information about yourself?
- The online dating site is really expensive. You need to spend hundreds of dollars a day.
There are better, safer, and more cost-effective dating sites out there.
